O Refuxio D´Antón

An excellent choice to eat in Baiona before or after visiting this beautiful town is O Refuxio D´Antón which is in the old town, in Ventura Misa Street, called the Wine's Street too.

O Refuxio D´Antón is a traditional tavern with a long history. This has been a family business for over 70 years. In the beginning, it was a tavern where the sailors enjoyed some time together after work taking a wine or a spirits. The place was reformed a few years ago, but the decoration is very traditional. The tables and chairs are made of wood and there are some wine barrels as tables that recall the place where sailors came together.

O Refuxio D´Anton is a very crowded place and you can´t make a reservation so I recommend you go early to not have to wait a lot but I´m sure that your wait will be worth it.

The menu is small based on local typical tapas. You can eat delicious squid, Padron Peppers, octopus, ham croquettes, “zorza” (meat with herbs typical in Galicia) and omelette, the best dish on the menu! Sometimes you can eat fresh fish too.

You can´t order desserts and coffee, and this is the reason because the service is very fast.

The prices are really low. You'll pay around 10 Euros and you'll eat a lot!

FILIPO BAR

Last Sunday I went to a bar with some friends. We went to Filipo, a bar in Rosalía de Castro Street. I didn't know it, but my impression was really good.
It's a little place but you haven't got the sensation of being squashed. The waiters are really pleasant and they attend to you fast.
The relation between quality and price is very good, and you have great diversity of offers with some food or beers much cheaper than in other places.
It's not a restaurant, it's only a bar; however, you won't miss it, because with your drinks they give you "tapas" with lots of food. And, if you're still hugry they have chocolate with churros.
So, it's a good place for having fun some day that you don't know what to do, you can follow the football because they have four TVs; or simply you can talk with your friends. I suppose that the days that there isn't football, they have some music ot other kind of programs, trying to satisfy all the preferences of the clients.

PAPO'S

I think Papo's is the ideal place to get some fast food. You can choose from sandwiches, burguers and more elaborate dishes like pasta or salads.
In allo the menu, it's important to taste three well known foods: Louerdes, Maceio and Giorgio's. The two first ones are sandwiches, and the last one is a hamburger. These three foods are the favourite foods oh the Vigueses.
If you want to got to Papo's, you have got four different premises in vigo: the first one is in Gran Via, and it's the most important, two others are in Calle Venezuela and one is in Navia. There is one more, and this  premise id for the CUVI's students on campus.
These different premises can serve you in your home if you order by telephone all the food you want to eat, and this is an advantage that the others premises haven't got yet.
If you want to taste real fast food, you only have to go to one premise called Papo's.

O PORCO

O PORCO
If you live in Vigo, you must try the food of “Mesón del Jamón”, that is its real name but it’s known by “O Porco” because the pork there is great!

It’s a rustic restaurant of tapas where in my opinion you can eat the best pork with turnip leaves (“lacón con grelos”), which is a typical Galician food. If you like it, I encourage you to eat pig’s ear, it doesn't look great but its taste is awesome. Also, the chorizo and the other dishes are so good and the most incredible thing is that you can eat and drink a lot for only €10 per person, more or less.
This restaurant (tavern) is located in the old town, on Calle Real (Royal Street). I recommend that you go at night because afterwards, you can have a beer in some bars nearby.

Enjoy your meal and the party!!!!

La Pepita : an Alternative in Fast Food Restaurants

If you love hamburgers but you are bored of the taste of the pre-cooked hamburgers of McDonalds or Burger King Restaurants, you should go to La pepita Burger Bar. This restaurant, situated in calle Oporto near to the church of García Barbón, was opened in March of 2012 and from the beginning, it has been an alternative to the classic franchise of fast food restaurants. The main factor for the success of this Burger Bar is the use of food fresh to elaborate delicious hamburgers. For this reason it is normal to see queues at lunch or dinner time during the weekend. However, if you don’t want to wait, you can phone them and then to pick up your order to eat it at home, but I think that it is worth eating there. In the next link, you can see more information like the menu or their telephone number for orders:

BAR BRASIL

BAR BRASIL

UPDATE: Bar Brasil is alas no more :(
It will be remembered by many.

Bar Brasil is a typical Galician bar; it's not too modern and the interior isn't very beautiful but for me it is like being at home. When I go there I always felt like as if I am in my grandmother´s home. This bar is situated in Calle Brasil about 12 minutes from Gran Vía (Vigo).
If you go to take a beer or a cola they give you these with one “tapa” for free but for me this bar is perfect to have a dinner with your friends.
If you go with your friends to take a dinner you can order a lot of delicious tapas. These tapas can be: tortilla (omelette), mejillones (mussels), zorza (meat marinated in spices), chipirones (European squid), calamares… everything that you order there is fresh and delicious. During the dinner you can drink very good wine and after the dinner the waiters are going to give you liquor coffee free of charge, which is a typical liquor from Galicia. And the service is perfect; it is for this that I say that I feel like I'm at home, because the waiters are very pleasant and friendly.
You have to know that this bar not is a luxury bar, because it is small and not very beautiful but I think that this not is the most important for dinner. Because the dishes are very tasty and the price is really reasonable. I never pay there more than ten Euros and I always eat a lot.

You can´t be in Vigo for a year and not know where Bar Brasil is!

La Barrica del Secreto & Follas Novas

I'll talk about two restaurants of Vigo: "La Barrica del Secreto" and "Follas Novas". Both are popular restaurants among people from Vigo. "La Barrica del Secreto" is pretty much the same distance from the centre as "Follas Novas", both in Serafin Avendaño street, but there are some important differences between them. The first one, "La Barrica del Secreto" is decidedly cheaper. You may have a dinner for more or less 20 euros. The second difference I want to point out is that customers from "La Barrica del Secreto" are significantly younger, due to its low prices. A wide range of tapas forms its menu, like grilled seafood or meat.
"Follas Novas" keeps a good balance between quality and price, but this restaurant is distinctly more expensive than the previous one. You may try traditional dishes from Galician cuisine with an innovative touch, carefully served by professional waiters, and a warm atmosphere suitable for all kinds of conversations. But you need to book before going, since it's nearly impossible to get a table without a reservation.
