Baked Monkfish tails
Monkfish is an ugly fish, but it has a compact and white flesh that reminds to some shellfishes. It lives in the Atlantic Ocean, so it can be easily found in Galician markets and fish shops. A curious fact is that monkfish has a kind of fishing rod over its head. It uses this rod to attract other little fishes and catch them with its big mouth.
What do you need?
- One monkfish tail per person.
- Chopped onion (2 onions for 4 tails).
- White wine.
- Olive oil.
- Salt and pepper (pepper is optional)
What do you have to do?
First, you put the tails, which should be already cleaned, in an ovenproof dish. If there are too many tails, you can use the plate inside the oven itself. You sprinkle salt and pepper over them and pre-heat the oven until 180º.Then, put a small amount of oil in a pan. When the oil is heat, you put the onion in it and sauté the onion. When the onion is done, add some white wine and let it cook for 2 minutes. Finally, you put the onion over the fish tails and bake them in the oven for 12 or 15 minutes. If the tails got dry, you could add some water.
Enjoy your meal!
