Santiago de Compostela

You must visit Santiago de Compostela  because it is the Galician centre of culture. There, you can visit one of the oldest and biggest cathedrals in the world. It is in downtown Santiago, the best way to get around is walking. Downtown you will get the best and typical Galician dishes and wine. Around the cathedral, there are four historic squares (Quintana square, Obradoiro square, Platerías square and Azabachería  square) and some historic buildings like “Hostal dos Reis Católicos” in Obradoiro square. In this location you will meet people from all over the world. They make the pilgrimage to Santiago to have a once in a life time experience.
You should walk along Alameda Park and you will see the most beautiful skyline of Santiago.
Another important place is The Cultural City. It´s not finished yet but if you like architecture, you will a good time there. It´s amazing.
In conclusion, Santiago is a beautiful and amazing city, you must come here!

Guimarães - European Capital of Culture 2012

A: Where is Guimarães and how can I arrive there?
B: Guimarães is near Braga in Portugal, to get there I'd recommend going by car because it is the fastest way to arrive, less than a hour, but if you haven't got a car you can go by bus, you'll need to take two buses, one from Vigo to Braga and another from Braga to Guimarães, It takes two and a half hours.
A: Do you know any good places to visit?
B: You should visit the castle and the palace, they are well worth seeing.
A: What about any other interesting places to visit nearby?
B: I'd recommend taking the cable cab to the top of the "Penha"'s hill. You shouldn't go to the museums because they are small and not interesting, It's better to visit the old part of the village which is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage of humanity.

A: What places would you recommend for lunch?
B: You must go to some restaurant in the center, there are really good restaurants and they're cheap, you can have lunch for €5.00 - €6.00.
A: That's good to know, thanks.

Carballo, a magnificent metropolis in Galicia

Hello!

We are going to talk about Carballo.

Carballo is a metropolis situated in the Galician province of A Coruña. It is near to Malpica and Arteixo with a population of about 32,500 people.

It is good to know there are famous hot baths called "Baños vellos" there to relax and it is probably best to visit the "Razo" beach where people organize surfing tournaments every summer.

Don't bother going to the museums because there aren't any however you should visit the Calvo's tunny factory  and don't you dare drink the water of the hot bath . It is only for swimming!

We'd recommend tasting the potatoes of Carballo because they are vere famous in all Galicia and delicious, of course.

It is really worth visiting this metropolis at the party of "San Juan", the most important celebration in the year when Carballo is full of "San Juan" fires. San Juan is the night of 23rd June every year. The town hall organizes a big party with celebrities and orchestras.

It is good to see you friends!

THERMAL BATHS OF OURENSE

If you have a free afternoon I'd recommend you to go to the thermal baths of Ourense. It´s probably the best way to relax in Galicia. You must go in the winter because the wáter is very hot. You shouldn´t wear metalic objects because the water has minerals and they can change the color of the jewellry.

The water is medicinal and it´s well worth caring for the skin. The termal baths are a calm place, so you shouldn´t shout.
The termal baths are in Ourense, you can go by bus or by train. It takes 1 hour. The price of  1 ½ hours is  €5. If you want, there are free termal baths in the centre of Ourense but they are always packed.
You have to wear a swimsuit, and bring a towel and flip flops, but if you forget something you can rent a towel or the flip flops.

The way to use the thermas is to intercalate hot water with cold water; this is very good for the circulation.

For us the best thermal baths are Prexigueiro´s  thermal baths because  they are in the middle of the mountains in a beautiful place, and there aren't a lot of persons.

It is a great pleasure to be in the thermal water, especially in winter while the outside temperature barely reaches 1 ° C. A highly recommended  experience.

When you leave the thermal baths, you will feel  totally relaxed , I assure you!

Scenic lookouts

You can experience Vigo through its scenic viewpoints. Near the University Campus is “the Forest Park of Beade”. You can visit any day. I'd recommend it. The views are wonderful. You can see the city, the Bay of Vigo and the Cies Islands.

The view of “Monte dos Pozos” is fantastic too. “Monte dos Pozos” is in Valladares, a place a few minutes from the Campus. There, the sunset is marvellous.

If you want to eat something, you will not have any problems: there is a restaurant and a café in both parks.
